If you have bought any expensive items recently, you will more than likely have been asked whether you would like to have them insured or not. A lot of the time, we say no – simply because we don’t want another expense every month. However, there are some items that really do need that some extra cover. Especially when it comes to gadgets and tech too! Here are the recommendations we make.
Of course, it is a legal requirement that you insure your car at least to a third party level, however, you should think about what might happen if you write off your vehicle and only have third party insurance. Doing this will mean that you won’t be able to replace your car without paying for the whole of it, and this isn’t something that everybody is able to do. Fully comprehensive cover is usually more than worth the money when you think about what could happen.
If you do any work on your laptop, particularly if it is the main machine that you use regularly to do your work, then it is important that it is insured. If you wouldn’t be able to do any work without your laptop, then you should stop to think about how inconvenient this may be. If it is insured, however, then this would give you the ability to go out and buy another machine, and this means that you shouldn’t have to go too long without being able to get your work done – which is great news indeed.
When you think about the number of things that you use your mobile phone for these days, it should be clear to see just how much hassle it would be if you were without it for any reason. Not only would you not be able to be in touch with people, but you also wouldn’t be able to use social networking websites which, although you may not think of it as an issue, would probably be relatively frustrating if you weren’t able to access them for a period of time. If your phone is insured, then usually your provider will be able to replace it relatively quickly.
Considering just how much time we spend on various devices and other items in our home, it is clear why they should all be insured – as this means that you have the best chance of having them replaced as soon as possible. However, you should be very careful when signing up to insurance, to make sure that you have the right level of cover. For example, many policies state that you aren’t covered against accidental damage, and this means that if you drop your phone, for example, you will have to pay for it yourself. Having a policy that covers all eventualities is the best thing to do, as this means that you will know that everything is always safe.
